Harbor Optical is pleased to announce that we are the first laboratory in the United States to offer this innovative new coating process. ExceedXTC is applied to lenses using a thermal, ion-assisted process producing a permanent hydrophobic coating up to 10 times easier to clean than standard hydrophobics.  ExceedXTC lenses provide superior performance on a consistent basis, index matching and an increased wetting angle of up to 116 degrees.  QUV, or accelerated aging testing, revealed ExceedXTC to provide a 40 percent increase in the longevity of the hydrophobic over other premium AR lenses.  In addition, cyclic humidity and cross hatch testing confirmed a 50 percent increase in the durability when exposed to long periods of humidity and UV.

The revolutionary super hydrophobic layer of ExceedXTC provides your patient with the most durable, easy to clean lens containing anti-static properties, helping to repel dirt and dust and keep lenses stay cleaner longer.  Fingerprints and face oils wipe off easily with hardly any effort.  Patient concerns about care and cleaning are erased!

About Anti-Reflective Coatings

Eliminate Reflective Glare

Traditional lenses create glare, reflections and distracting ghost images that can be dangerous, especially when driving at night.  They also cause unnecessary eye fatigue and eye strain while working with computers.  Up to 99 percent of the glare is eliminated with Exceed premium anti-reflective lenses.  Night driving is made easier and safer, while time spent in front of a computer for work or pleasure becomes more comfortable.

Increase Light Transmission

Your visual performance is improved with increased light transmission. Distracting reflections and glare can rob your eyes of up to 13% of all available light. Exceed premium anti-reflective lenses allow virtually all available light to pass through your lenses increasing your ability to experience clearer, sharper vision.

Exceed AR Lenses vs. Traditional Lenses

The Exceed family of Anti-Reflective coatings

Available exclusively from Harbor Optical, the Exceed family of premium AR coatings has been designed to meet all of your AR needs. With true anti-static properties, as well as a dramatically improved scratch coat.  This combination creates an AR coating that is easier to clean and much more scratch resistant.

The lenses of today offer minimal scratch coating from the factory.  To preserve the quality of the lens over its typical life span, a premium hardcoat should be applied. In an effort to provide the highest quality hardcoat available, we have released Armor.  Armor offers superior scratch resistance tough enough to fight the everyday wear that can destroy a stock coated lens.

The Exceed family of coatings provides all of the standard AR features, as well as a conductive, anti-static layer that actually repels dust and particles.  Our AR family also benefits from a hydrophobic and oleophobic coating that makes cleaning your lenses even easier. Lenses with our AR coatings will stay cleaner longer, and provide patients with an unmatched ease of care.  Cleaner lenses facilitate better vision.

We offer five levels of in-house AR protection:

EXCEL:  Excel is our entry-level AR coating product.  It offers the same basic properties that all AR coatings offer.

ELITE:  Elite is our mid-range AR.  It performs much like Excel, but also has a super-hydrophobic coating applied. The Elite coating comes with a two year warranty.

EXCEED:  Exceed is our premium AR coating. It has all of the great properties of Elite, but also features the anti-static layer that repels the dust and contaminants that can damage lenses during cleaning.

EXCEED-XT:  Exceed-XT is our super premium AR. It has all of the benefits of regular Exceed, plus a 50 percent increase in scratch resistance and durability when exposed to the elements.
